Some countries insist that the person in charge of a pleasure vessel must hold a certificate of competence
For those of you going into the European inland waterways system it is mandatory for you to hold an ICC with and inland endorsement.
This can be gained by sitting a short theory test on the inland waterways rules and regulations.Knowledge of these can be gained from the RYA publication International Certificate of Competence CEVNI rules. Study this book for about a week before sitting the test.
By attending the two day Powerboat Handling Level 2 course you will be able to automatically apply for an international license which is a requirement in Europe. It covers you to operate a powerboat up to 10 metres with no restriction on horsepower. This license is issued by the RYA at an additional cost, valid for five years and then renewable after that with a new application. We will assist in completing the form. You may also apply for the ICC for a PWC if you hold the one day Personal Watercraft Proficiency certificate.
